Text by Anastasia Lahtinen, illustrated by Natalia Pleshkova
A series of modern fairy tales by Alexandra Lahtinen, inspired by Finnish legends.
In a Finnish village called Lieske, the Northern Lights are said to be created by the magical tail of a fox from the immortal Borealis family. When the last Borealis fox breaks an ancient tradition, she is cursed by Ukko, the God of Thunder and Lightning, losing her power to create the lights. As a result, the Northern Lights vanish, families leave the village, and it falls into decline. Only a few elderly animals remain. When a family of pheasants moves to the village, siblings Titta and Olli hear the legend and decide to restore the magic. They embark on a quest to help the fox break the curse, reignite the Northern Lights, and bring life back to the village. Their adventure becomes a journey of courage, tradition, and the power of belief.
